Animal Industries Import Permit System

This system is for use by licensed veterinarians only.

Every animal entering Idaho requires a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI). Some require an entry permit. This system is available for veterinarians to obtain their own import permits. Please ensure you have all pertinent information (certificate, origination and destination addresses, phone numbers, animal information, testing dates, etc.) before starting the permit process. If you do not have an account, use the link above to create one and apply for access. If you are unable to create an account or have not had your application approved, permits may be obtained during normal business hours by calling (208) 332-8540 or after business hours by calling (208) 608-4719, (208) 391-0616.

If this is your first time using the system, or you just want a refresher, please be sure to read over our walkthrough guide.

Current Events Impacting Import Permit requirements:

Premises in the following states have been under quarantine for Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) within the past 30 days.

  • California
Animals located on a premises where VS has been diagnosed may not enter Idaho. All other livestock coming from these states require an entry permit or approved eCVI and a VS statement on their CVI.

There have been some recent updates to the requirements for importing animals into the state of Idaho. These include:

  • Non-EIA tested horses destined to an approved equine facility are now required to have entry permits.
  • Permits are no longer required when using an approved electronic CVI form. Approved forms are from GlobalVetLink, State of Oregon (Oregon veterinarians only), Acclaim Systems VET CVI, Vet Sentry, Sale Time, Mi-Corporation, myVetTech and State of Texas. If you are not using one of these forms, normal permit requirements still apply.

If you have questions regarding any of these changes, please contact Animal Industries at (208) 332-8540.
